Keena Ward of AK Candles was always interested in creating a candle business. During the pandemic, many companies were forced to downsize. Keena decided to use that uncertainty and her desire to be her own boss as a catalyst for her business. After a year of research, while the crisis was in full swing, she launched her brand.
Together with her daughter, Ava, as her fragrance tester, Keena launched AK Candles in July. 2020. While her business is just beginning, Keena shared her insight on what she learned from launching her business. With a variety of scents, Keena also released a line of hand soaps in late November 2020.
